Thomas George: Broncos Must Send Marshall Packing

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Don’t know who this Thomas George is, but it don’t really matter–he hits the nail on the proverbial head. I can’t believe some of you sea cucumbers out there are still “hoping” and “praying” that Brandon Marshall will be playing for the Broncos this year. Even the great “Numbnuts” at the Denver Post sees the writing on the wall. I seen the writing on the wall months if not years ago. I knew he’d be trouble once the contract came up. I’m sick and tired of hearing “you can’t replace Marshall’s production,”–oh yes you can. You can split his production between two hard working, good character receivers that don’t have to be superstars.

You want to talk about irreplaceable? That’s Dumervil. You get rid of him and you better damn well sign Peppers or you’re off your damn rocker.

I give you the great Thomas George, who tells it like it is:

Marshall, despite his big-play productivity, is nothing close to the kind of character that McDaniels wants to build this franchise around.

He (McDaniels) wants to continue to implement his philosophies of what a player should be on and off the field. He wants more Brian Dawkins-types, as any coach would want when considering this savvy safety who arrived from Philadelphia last season and helped McDaniels begin to transform the Broncos into his image.
There is no room for Brandon Marshall in any of that.

Marshall has to go.

Bringing Marshall back would give the Broncos more chaos likely sooner rather than later. There is little doubt that had former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan returned for last season rather than being dismissed, Marshall would have been gone before it began. The former Broncos coaching staff saw the splendid production of Marshall mixed with the often impish attitude he displayed and the messy personal entourage he selected. That made it clear to them that Marshall in Denver would not have been able to handle a long-term, big-dollar contract.

Tender him to a first rounder, or second rounder. I want either a first round pick, or two second round picks or a second rounder and a good player. There you have it, gone and we’ll be better off for it.

Can’t believe that Jamie Dukes sitting on NFL Network defending the actions of both Terrell Owens and Brandon Marshall in the same breath.

Great words of wisdom come to mind when I heard that nonsense the other night: “Good luck with that, dude.”

Brandon Marshall: “probably escalated the situation”

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Remember I said Marshall was a bad actor on a New Years night a couple years ago?

“This is when I got angry a little bit and my first words were, ‘Goddamn man, I offered you guys drinks tonight to party with us.’ There was a lot of cursing and a lot of words being exchanged,” Marshall said.

Marshall said Clark lifted up his shirt as if to simulate he had a gun.

“I said, ‘Man, you got no f—— gun,’ ” Marshall said. “I don’t know if it was a gun or not. I assumed he didn’t have a gun because he was holding up his shirt and I didn’t see one.

“I kind of got angry at the time and probably escalated the situation, but I got angry because it was New Year’s and we were trying to have fun.”

“Did you make gestures to these people?” Twining asked.

“I am sure I did,” Marshall said.

Marshall then admitted he tried to jump over the snowbank to get at Clark and his friends, but he slipped on ice, and he said Harris punched him in the jaw.

He said at that moment, Clark and Harris ran away and he got a bad feeling.

“The first thing I thought of is maybe they are running to go get a gun,” Marshall said.

Pissed me off when I heard he was an instigator then (and you heard all these fans saying it wasn’t him, only his cousin), and it does now. Not blaming, but that nonsense sure didn’t help any.

Broncos Lose Coin Flip at 2010 NFL Combine

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Son of a… I wanted that tenth pick. A little easier to trade and it just looks better since we’d be in all the top ten previews and speculation. Those damn Jaguars, damn expansion team.

Oh well, we still got Brandon Marshall to trade…

Broncos cut Casey Wiegmann, Lamont Jordan

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

No surprises there. We will rebuild our offensive line interior and like I said before we should draft a slugger of a running back in the later rounds; somebody with some size, who can move the pile.

I heard a rumor…

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

That Brandon Marshall didn’t return Numbnut’s phonecall.

Woody Paige

Numby

That’s why Numby changed his tune from saying pay Marshall 50 million to the latest “he’s not worth it.”

Well thank you Captain Obvious.

Can you believe this guy? He ain’t even serious. People are catching on:

Rotoworld: We generally take columnists’ opinions with a grain of salt (especially Woody Paige), but it’s true that McDaniels has yet to endorse Marshall’s return.

Especially Numby, since he’s perennially wrong.

Better late than never, I guess.

To all those who believe Marshall will still be a Bronco this year, send me an email: I got some Sham-Wow’s and Slap-Chops I want to sell you. Oh, and if you email quick I’ll also throw in the “Graty” for an extra five dollahs.

slap chop graty

Seriously, who would you rather sign? Brandon Marshall or Terrell Owens? Owens is the same type of receiver with the same antics and headaches, but Owens is without the risk of suspension and he would cost much less.

We don’t want neither, but just sayin’

Numby Wants Marshall Gone?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

I can’t believe it. Wasn’t this the same guy that wanted us to pay Marshall 50+ million a couple months ago?

Woody’s Mailbag: Broncos need to move Marshall, antics out of town
If he were to come back next season, we’d be saying, “Oh, Brandon is having a great year.” Then we’d be saying Brandon is causing trouble, has gotten into trouble, says his new contract isn’t sufficient, doesn’t like Denver. He’s not worth the trouble or the money.

I bet that one went over well with Numby’s legion of sea cucumbers who think Marshall’s coming back. Way to pull a 180. That’s Numby for you, no rules in his sordid world. I suppose he thinks we’re a bunch of peons with the memory span of a fruit fly. What a sea cucumber, singing the praises of Marshall after one record breaking game — forgetting his past transgressions in a wink– and now he wants Marshall gone.

Well ain’t that convenient. That’s how them sea cucumbers operate. They don’t got a backbone, they’re just floundering around, spurting and gurgling wherever the tide happens to be taking them on any given day.

Once again Mike Klis pens an excellent piece: Bowlen seeing benefits of switch to McDaniels

That’s right. The benefits of McDaniels.

“Josh is a principled person and he’s going to call for accountability from the first player on the roster to the 53rd,” Ellis said. “His belief and need for team and the team concept, he’s not going to waver from that. And frankly, that was something that was refreshing. In the interview process, that gave him a leg up on other candidates.”

Damn straight. McDaniels has principles and that’s the reason Marshall and that goober Scheffler found their asses on the bench in our “playoff” game. McDaniels is putting his foot down on the spoiled Shanahan era Broncos, just like I said he would starting last February, and soon we will be rid of both Marshall and Scheffler and we will be better off for it.

“There’s going to be changes,” Bowlen said. “As I look at the team, I think we have a solid football team. There are some areas of the team where’d we like to be better. I have talked with Josh about that. I know what his feelings are. And I’ve got a great deal of faith in his ability to recognize that and ability to go out and execute it.”

March 5th can’t come soon enough. The turds will begin to hit the proverbial fan and the last of the Broncos me-first prima donna players will be sent packing.

Truths Amidst the Chaos

Friday, February 12th, 2010

brandon marshallYou people think I’m here just to hammer down and beat back the lies and distortions, eh? There is some good Broncos information being pushed out there, too bad you need a microscope to find it among all the garbage being shoveled. First up, words of wisdom from Adam Schefter:

I expect the Patriots are going to make some type of move for a receiver this off-season. Brandon Marshall is an interesting case. I don’t see that being the guy, I just don’t see Bill Belichick doing it. I don’t see Bill and the Patriots – I just don’t see it. The Broncos are in a situation where he’s the best player on their team. There’s a reason they’re going to trade him. Do you think you trade the best player on your team at the age of 25, 26?

Good point, followed by an even better one:

Q: So why would Josh McDaniels hang onto him?

A: Brandon Marshall’s getting traded. I don’t care what he says.

Any sea cucumber should see why Marshall isn’t back with the team next year. We’ve had enough of his unprofessionalism and this coach isn’t gonna take his crap. Some of you people are living in the past, living in the Shanahan era where desperation rules the day. Desperation in the form of Dale Carter, Daryl Gardener, Travis Henry, Todd Sauerbrun and Maurice Clarett. Desperation that would sign Marshall to a hefty one year contract so we can bench him on the eve of a playoff game — that desperation is no longer a part of the Broncos.

I told you people back in February of last year, I told you people this McDaniels is going to put his foot down on the spoiled Shanahan era Broncos. He will rule with an iron fist, and if you ain’t on board or if you’re gonna try and cause a bunch of nonsense then we’re shipping your ass out.

“Fair market value,” — forget about this. Damaged goods. We’re going to get something good for Marshall, but we ain’t getting what a lot of people are floating out there. I would be shocked if we did. I see us getting one first rounder or maybe a second and a third, or maybe even straight up for a player and a mid-round pick. All this happy talk from Marshall and the Broncos is posturing. Unfortunately, potential suitors aren’t that stupid. We will take what we can get, we’re not going to sit there like some ill-informed eBay seller asking the absolute maximum for an item that’s already been opened and has a history of failures and strange behavior.

Kudos to Mike Klis

But at the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl events the past week or so, I talked to several writers who covered Nolan at various points in his career. They all described him as a good man, but a micromanaging control freak. McDaniels is also a good man who also appears to be a micromanaging control freak. The difference is, McDaniels, as the head coach, is the only guy who has the right.

So it wasn’t going to work. Nolan is now the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator. Miami is his seventh team since he became a defensive coordinator for the first time in 1993. In other words, McDaniels isn’t the first guy who didn’t want to work with Nolan anymore. I don’t mean to criticize Nolan, who is an outstanding person, and a good coach. But to put 100 percent blame for his latest breakup on McDaniels is ridiculous.

Klis picked the Broncos to go 9 and 7 this year. I give credit where credit is due. This article from Klis — which had some good information — was followed up with negative comments from about two hundred sea cucumbers over there at the Post.

woody paige jon stewart

"That's entertainment."

I’m laughing my balls off at the fact these people are trying to hammer the wrong guy. Numbnut’s sea of 200 cucumbers over there are willing to believe the words of an old fool who builds his house on sand time and time again. They’re going out on a limb for a guy who’s not even serious. Reminds me of the people that believe Jon Stewart peddles real news information.

This one in particular, was a shot across the bow of the Numby faithful:

As for that second-ranked offense McDaniels inherited, don’t forget it finished 16th in scoring. Football games, J Will, are not won between the 20s.

Oh that’s a shill for McDaniels right there, nothing more. That Klis is in McDaniels pocket, that’s gotta be it…

I will opine that Marshall will be traded. McDaniels’ decision to dismiss Marshall from the season’s final game, and Marshall’s insistence on receiving the type of contract the Broncos don’t feel comfortable providing him make his departure certain.

I’m beginning to think this Klis has more than half a brain.

Denver Broncos up for sale rumor

This is another idiotic one, did you hear the Broncos may be for sale? Peddled by some goober on a slow news day, probably thought this one up while he was sitting on the toilet counting the bathroom tiles after his significant other experimented with a “knockwurst casserole.”

These people just don’t seem to know this coach or this owner. If you knew this coach, you wouldn’t think for .001 second that we’re bringing back Marshall.

If you know our owner, you know our owner wants to win. It is a great thing having an owner who wants to win badly. Some people think we’re going to be tightwads in the offseason. I don’t think so myself. I believe we will at least bring in one big name on our defensive line and two or three decent names on offensive line and wide receiver.

Our team has an owner who wants to win. He’s not stupid, we’re not going to spend out the ass, but I see us being a strong player in all things free agency and the draft this year. We’re gonna have ammo to trade, whether straight up for a player or trading picks. Everyone seems to think we will use a pick from the Marshall trade in this draft, but we could use an extra pick to sign a restricted free agent that we like.

Pat Bowlen hired McDaniels to win a Super Bowl. It would be ridiculous for Bowlen to bail at this moment. Bowlen won with Reeves (no Lombardi, but hell if we didn’t have the chances), he won with Shanahan and he will win with McDaniels. McDaniels is a winner, he has the mark of a winner and he will rule with an iron fist. If you don’t like him, you better learn to love him cause he’s gonna be around for a long time.

Jay "Huckdort" Cutler

Jay "Huckdort" Cutler

Amidst all the downers, amidst all the crying and whining, this team was 4th and 10, 3rd and 25 away from being 10 and 6 last year. Our problems are evident and will be addressed, we are on the up and up and it was nothing short of a disgrace to see that Denver Post poll that says the Redskins are on a much better track. Then again, it’s Numbnuts and his sea of 200 at work over there, living in the poor character past, lamenting a gooned out, pick throwing Huckdort who would have “saved the franchise.”

Broncos want McNabb – Lies and Distortions

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

I’m sick and tired of a bunch of tabloid nonsense, boneheaded theories and porous information.

I heard Timmy Tebow’s gonna be the Broncos new quarterback.

I heard we’re bringing back Brandon Marshall for a one-year, ten million dollar deal.

Then we’ll sign LT from the Chargers cause he’s certainly at a point in his career where he’ll hit the hole with gusto.

I heard Donovan McNabb is gonna be the Broncos new quarterback. Then we’re still gonna draft Timmy Tebow so he can make two trick plays in the wildcat for us.

Dumervil’s on his way to Miami since Nolan’s better than McDaniels.

We’re gonna sign Terrell Owens to play opposite Marshall, then McNabb is gonna be throwing to Marshall and Owens in 2010.

Don’t believe all this nonsense. You’ve got snake oil salesmen and garden variety morons like that John Clayton over at ESPN peddling a bunch of crap in a slow news period to try and get you to sign up to the website. That ESPN rumor central is tabloid. Just like that Numby up at the Denver Post. His nonsense ain’t even serious. The Broncos inquired three times about McNabb eh? Prove it. I bet they can’t.

ESPN League Source

League source says: " Broncos to trade a 1st rounder for Donovan McNabb."

I bet more than half the time over at that rumor central, I bet more than half the time the “league source” is some Jimmy DaRula selling hot dogs outside the stadium who thought he heard something on his illegal scanner. The Eagles front office pizza delivery man picked up something for a second on his CB radio. What a bunch of garbage. Just because a ESPN reporter floats it from “league sources,” doesn’t mean it’s gospel. Especially at this time of year. A lot of these so-called rumors are nonsense at this point,  nothing really matters until March 5th, and even then they’ll find a way to float something stupid. Especially since they besmirch McDaniels at every turn, even before he coached a single game. I heard that McDaniels don’t know how to run a team.

McNabb playing for Denver? Not happening. Marshall returning? Not happening.

Bring back Brandon Marshall for a year?

Oh yeah, that’s genius right?

I bet we can’t pay him ten million for his talent quick enough — just so we can bench him before another playoff game.
