Merril Hoge Can Dish it Out to Tebow, But He Can’t Take It

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

The Real Merril Hoge

Get a load of this Hog, the loser spews vitriol on Sportscenter saying the Broncos should trade Tebow to St. Louis so he can join McDaniels and ride the pine behind Bradford for the rest of his career as a situational player. No doubt, Hog got hammered with calls, flooded with emails over opening his stupid trap about Tebow last time. No doubt the response got to him to come up with this gem.

ESPN treating it like news, ESPN is a joke.

Denver Post Slugs Begging You to Like Brady Quinn

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Please vote for Quinn this time

The Denver Compost didn’t like the results of the last number two quarterback poll. Now they’re practically begging you to choose Brady Quinn this time after his incredible performance last night. Sorry, I didn’t see anything incredible about him. Mixed bag. Tipped passes here and there–an interception waiting to happen–as usual. Minus the one touchdown drive late, you could honestly say he didn’t play very well. ESPN enjoyed showing Quinn’s touchdown(only) followed by Tebow taking a sack, all with expert commentary by the great Mark Schlereth who probably pissed himself he was so happy.

It’s ridiculous whats going on in Denver and I don’t like it, not one bit. I am reality. You can’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining. I am the rock. I am unphased. It seems we are building our offense firmly on the Orton/Quinn model. Unspectacular. No intangibles. No dynamic abilities. Effective in practice, hell even preseason. Come the regular season it will crash and burn. Failure in the clutch. Sorry folks, preseason at home against the lowly Bills isn’t clutch.

I’ve seen the Orton show before. Wasn’t he good in preseason last year? Oh, didn’t he look like a professional? Oh yes he did. We were fifth in the league in passing yards last preseason. We actually managed to run the ball a little in preseason last year too. Seventh in total offense. Oh we were a juggernaut.

Got news for ya, yeah the Broncos may end up 2-0 to start the season, but the downward spiral will come soon after.

You’re not going to win a championship with Kyle Orton or Brady Quinn. They’re journeymen. Steady, unspectacular passers with no intangibles, no dynamic playmaking ability–especially you know, when it counts. I’ve seen the Orton show before in the preseason. I’ve seen it in the regular season. Same with Brady Quinn. I don’t care who he hired to help him out in the offseason.

We’ll see who the geniuses are when the regular season comes. I heard we’ll win ten plus games now. Isn’t that an amazing turnaround after one game? The confidence level is through the roof. Hey, that’s OK.

I ain’t buying it.

Oh yeah, and in two years the great Brady Quinn will probably be an NFL analyst, watch out Brian Griese.

Woody Paige: Man on an Island

Tebow will eventually replace Orton again as starter

I have to give credit where credit is due. Woodrow is the only one at the Denver Post who is in the right about Tebow and Orton. He’s been consistent about both of them.

Woodrow

Year after year Paige predicts doom and gloom with Orton as the starter and he’s been right. He exaggerates how horrible Orton is every year, but it’s true that KO’s play is merely ho-hum and he is not the future.

Paige is a man on an island at the Post when it comes to Tebow, he’s the only one who sees the truth. We should give this young player the shot–not these two journeyman we already know about. Maybe this Fox thinks he’ll sprinkle some magic beans and turn the journeymen into world beaters. That Krieger, Kiszla, Legwold and especially that Klis are a bunch of dingleberries with an axe to grind. Bunch of dung pile scavengers. Especially that Klis who talks up Brady Quinn like he’s on par with the Manning brothers.

Hope you enjoy it Klis, hope you get what you want week eight when Quinn comes in to stink up the place and gets booed straight out of “Sports Authority” field for good. I’ll be enjoying it. I’ll be laughing my balls off.

Talking Up Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn

Saturday, August 20th, 2011
John Fox Broncos

Maybe I should stick to defense?

There’s been a lot of talk in the media lately about how quarterback Kyle Orton is so important to the Broncos since he will flourish behind a new improved running attack. Now there’s even talk of how Brady Quinn could be the true backup in Denver.

Some journalists and fans with rose colored lenses even believe Brady Quinn could push Kyle Orton for the starting job.

I’m beginning to think this coach is stupid enough to believe he really has something special in either Orton or Quinn.

I’m here to throw a cold bucket of water on all these grandiose hopes and dreams.

I am reality.

Mike Klis, John Clayton: Broncos Will Demote Tebow

Friday, August 19th, 2011

On the heels of one of the greatest preseason performances by a quarterback in Broncos history, the great Brady Quinn is on track to beat out Tim Tebow as the Broncos true backup QB to Kyle Orton.

Quinn clearly outplayed both Orton and Tebow last week in an amazing display of fourth quarter heroics against the Dallas Cowboys third and fourth team scrubs.

“His ability to lead our scrubs and wreak havoc on guys who may not even make the team in Dallas was pretty exceptional,” said an unknown Broncos insider.

Mike Klis of the Denver Compost wrote: “…it was Quinn who outperformed them both in the team’s first preseason game last Thursday at Dallas.” Klis added: “Quinn not only led the Broncos to two touchdowns, both touchdowns came in the fourth quarter. …When evaluating quarterbacks, extra credit should be given to touchdowns in the fourth quarter.”

Indeed, Quinn’s scoring drives during crunch time of last weeks Dallas preseason game were nothing short of legendary. It was an impeccable aerial spectacle that many a Broncos fan will forever remember.

“I’ll always remember where I was on August eleventh 2011,” said Barry Mumphery, a Boulder Colorado native, “I’ve been selling shirts on eBay that have a Broncos logo over the date 08/11/2011 and sales have really skyrocketed.”

“It was an incredible second half, just incredible, I just hope I don’t get caught by the NFLPA,” Barry said.

The accurate, unbiased Klis also mentioned, “With the NFL no longer forcing teams to make a No. 3 quarterback designation on game day, there’s a chance Tebow would be used for the occasional “Tebow package” plays, but Quinn would get the longer-term backup role.”

In addition to Quinn’s fourth quarter heroics, his monumental practice play has reverberated across the nation and professional sportswriters are taking notice. The always on point ESPN Senior Writer John Clayton further explains Brady Quinn’s incredibly quick rise to greatness:

But Tebow, in his second season, still hasn’t developed a consistent way of delivering the football. When throwing short passes to his right, Tebow, a left-hander, opens his hips too much and skips the football off the ground like a rock across water. Too often, his eyes lock onto his first target. His throwing delivery lacks a consistent release point. With proud veterans such as Champ Bailey, Brian Dawkins, Elvis Dumervil and others on the team, Fox would lose the team if he started the quarterback who would give the team the lesser chance to win. Although Tebow is exciting and an icon everyone in the world can root for, he’s not ready for prime time or an NFL starting QB job.

Ah yes, all of Broncos Nation certainly witnessed the ineffective debacle that was Tim Tebow last week in Dallas. Clayton’s analysis of the much maligned Timmy Teebs is spot on. Clayton adds, “…there will be no formal announcement of who is backing up Orton. Why? Because it probably will be Brady Quinn, who has outperformed Tebow in training camp.”

Clearly the Broncos will move on, upward and away from a rookie quarterback who managed to score an average of 24 points per game in his first three starts last season. Tebow’s paltry 6 for 7 and 91 yards plus a measly quarterback rating of 118 last week surely downgraded his stock, cementing his rightful place as the Broncos third string quarterback–and as a national laughing stock. The expert piece by the always Broncos-knowledgeable Clayton also states Tebow is not ready for a starting job and that Kyle “The Man” Orton bulked up an incredible twelve pounds in the offseason. It indicates Orton is dead serious about leading the aging Broncos Tebow-hating veterans to a championship this year and ushering in a lengthy new era of Broncos excellence.

Wake the kids, phone the neighbors folks, Tebowmania be damned because Orton’s ripped and the Mighty Quinn is the real number two in Denver.

Broncos Believe in Kyle Orton

I talked to some players who say that, as far as they are concerned, Orton is the unquestioned starter of the team. And nothing should change.

What the hell else are they gonna say there William? “Oh yeah, this Orton character, get him out of here… we need Tebow starting.”

You honestly think one of the players is going to say that? That they think the coach is wrong?

Gimme a break, you can go to every training camp across the nation and you ain’t gonna see players questioning the starting quarterback.

That is, unless you ask someone like Brandon Marshall… but he’s the exception to the rule.

Ty Warren Injured

Well, if it’s season ending then you know why the Patriots cut him–he’s simply injury prone. Hasn’t seen the field in a while. It’s too bad if we lose him. The middle of our defense is suspect.

In other news, Cam Newton didn’t complete more than fifty percent of his passes in his preseason debut. According to the majority of the sports media and many Broncos fans, Cam Newton has no business playing in the NFL. That is, if they’re gonna be consistent.
