Yeah I like the idea of speed at WR too. As far as I know, Dez Bryant fills that role. I think we're actually going to be a little thin at reciever next year if they don't go get some guys. I mean, Marshall's out. Scheffler's probably gone. I think Brandon Lloyd is gone. Stokley's getting old. So what, that's Royal and Gaffney. Seems like Kenny McKinley never played.

I don't know how many draft picks we have. I'm torn cause there are a couple wideouts I'd like the Broncos to draft but I don't know that they should be using multiple picks on receivers. I wouldn't complain if they drafted Bryant, assuming Marshall is gone. But I kind of like Jordan Shipley in a later round. I think he can be a good slot guy for McDaniels' system. I'm a big Mountain West Conference guy, and I was hoping for Austin Collie last season, sinnce I've watched him during his whole career at BYU. So I was hoping he'd be that slot guy for us, but whatever. So I'll cross my fingers for Shipley this time. He fills that prerequisite for a smaller white guy with good hands and routes. It wouldn't fill an immediate need for the team, but I don't think it's that bad of an idea. Orton loves him some short passes.

As for drafting a QB, Pike seems like a good fit for McDaniels' system. Big tall guy, can stand back in the gun. Got a little zip to his throws, and he can move better than you think. He could definitely stand to gain a little weight though. My homer pick is Zac Robinson, but that's because I'm from Littleton, CO. That may not be a good idea, cause I'm not entirely sure he's a pro QB. But I'm completely biased, so I have so reason to think with logic or anything of that sort. But hey, maybe a Robinson-Bryant reunion in Denver. Probably not.

You're right in your other posts though. We need some interior O-line. Big time. Since we're switching from zone to power blocking, once they get the right guys in there for it, I think Knowshon is going to do some good things.

Cassel's the better quarterback. I see why McDaniels wanted him. He's got very good mechanics and his deep ball is better. He's a better passer than Orton and he's more mobile. Cassels isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, but he's a good quarterback. The team he's on sucks, of course.

Both Cassels and Orton get criticism for their deep throws, from what I saw Cassels throws them better--its not as bad of a blooper that hangs up there like Orton throws. Something that gets me about Ortons deep throws: the timing seems to be off. It's like he waits too long, then he finally throws and its under-thrown. What I'd like to see is a speedy WR on the Broncos. How long has it been since we had a burner out there? Maybe if we get a guy who can get some separation KO can be more confident to wing it up there earlier.

I would like to see us bring in a veteran backup QB this year (who knows who may get cut) and draft a QB somewhere in the second to fourth rounds... I still like that Tony Pike. I happen to think we can win with Orton, especially if we run the football. But hey, if someone beats him out or gives us more of a complete weapon at QB than Orton and his limitations then fine, I'm not married to Orton either. I just think we can win with him even with his limitations, but we must run the football.

Yeah, I'd be pissed if McNabb found his way to Denver next year. Nothing against the guy, I just don't want him to be our QB.. And I don't want no part of Tebow either. He's a good kid, but no thanks. So hopefully these rumors are just that - rumors. And speaking of rumors.....

I read on another site that Charlie Weis with the Chiefs isn't exactly sold on Matt Cassel over there and they've been looking at Quinn or possibly Clausen. Now I don't know if there is any truth to that or not. But purely out of curiosity, completely hypothetical question, this is just me talking here... What would you think if McDaniels got involved in more Cassel business this off season, P.P.? I'm not asking cause I'm for or against that idea, or because I think it's possible or not, I'm just wondering what you would think if Cassel wound up here. Upgrade or downgrade over Orton? He's obviously familiar with the system, and he's more mobile than Orton. Arm-wise they're probably pretty close. I don't know.

Cassel or no, I think the Broncos are going to make a QB move sometime in the near future. Kyle Orton is not a problem, I love that drunk bastard. He's solid, limits mistakes, and can run the offense--but I don't see him as a long term starter here. So it'll be interesting to see what they do this offseason. Maybe franchise him? But I expect a new QB coming in some time; draft, or trade, or FA, or something. I think there are a few decent guys worth developing that can be had later in the draft. Either that or Brandstater better be making some serious progress. I know one thing, I don't ever want to see Chris Simms in a Broncos uniform ever again.
