I hope that the firing of Mike Shanahan means that Pat Bowlen has already lined up The Chin. Perhaps it’s true that we had to go in a different direction, but I think unless we get Cowher, that direction might not be up. I hope that Bowlen doesn’t hire Eric Mangini after firing Mike for choking away a commanding late-season division lead and finishing out of the playoffs.

I’d like to think that Shanahan was fired with a competent replacement already lined up. That is what I’d like to think. If this firing is just a knee-jerk reaction, Pat Bowlen may have pooped in his own hat.
