Congrats to the Broncos Von Miller who beat out the 49ers Aldon Smith for the distinction of defensive rookie of the year. Miller finished the year with 64 tackles, 11 and a half sacks, 21 tackles for a loss and three forced fumbles. It’s too bad about his thumb getting all screwed late this year, it obviously affected him down the final stretch or he could have accomplished even more.

Well it’s good that we got here, but you would have liked to put up a better fight than that debacle. Embarrassing that we gave up record after record. Figures though, just look at our safeties, my God they can all go except Quinton Carter. At least he is showing flashes of brilliance.

The team did have chances to keep the game close early, but fumbles, dropped passes and missed tackles killed them.

This game highlighted the needs of the Broncos going into 2012.

I will produce my yearly want list soon, but I’ll tell you right now: This team needs a big, fast running back  more than anything. More than any other position. It will have more impact than anything.

If a big, fast running back is available at pick 25? Do it.

Trade up if you have to. Or get one in the second round. Top priority should be running back. I’ve been seeing holes each week that should be exploited by someone with a better burst, by someone who can make one tackler miss and someone with home-run hitting ability. McGahee is fine, he’s fine as a second running back. 1,200 some yards, hard yards, but nobody fears his ability to take it to the house. We need a running back people fear, among other things.

Not going to single anyone out over this game, it was a team loss, but Mays, Ball, Willis, McBean, Bush, Moore and even Royal need to be replaced.

The Denver Broncos need five new starters on defense. Two defensive tackles, a middle linebacker and TWO safeties. Dawkins is probably gone, Quinton Carter can stay — and that’s it. I don’t want to see the rest. We should get at least one safety in free agency. Drafting safeties hasn’t worked out so well. Fifty one in the middle is outmatched and has been all year — nice interception drop too.

We need a fullback, a starting running back and a wide receiver (or two) who can catch. You see how our running game absolutely stalls when Mcgahee isn’t in there? He’s good for a couple carries once in a while and that’s that. Don’t want to see that next year. We need a young, strong running back that teams must fear. We’ve also got 88 at receiver and who else? Eddie Royal shouldn’t even be here next year. Doesn’t do enough.

Team has a lot of needs, we are outmatched out there today. The good news is this team can get a lot better on both sides of the ball and quickly if we make the right moves. Right now, a true number one running back is a priority for this team.

It was a good performance from Tebow and Demaryius Thomas last Sunday. Thomas became a man, I saw potential in him the first time he took to the field and I’m glad he’s coming around to playing like a first rounder.

Who the hell was that Bush player anyways? Didn’t do too badly. You see, I ain’t ever gonna jump up and down to draft a corner in the first round. No, the way I see it the Broncos should move up in the first round to get either a middle linebacker or running back.

Don’t want to hear it, especially not after that performance McGahee. The kid even bailed you out, didn’t he now? Unbelievable these people who just don’t understand Tebow’s big effect on the running game, regardless of his passing. No way does McGahee have all that yardage with Orton or Quinn starting over center and that’s a fact.

People talk about us running the football, first in the league. Well we can get better there too. I’m not hip to Willis McGahee being “the guy” he’s good and I respect him but he needs to be our number two. I want a big-time running back. I want a younger more explosive Willis McGahee starting. Holy hell the kid could go over 1,500 yards and break some of them runs for touchdowns. We can be much better running the football.

I don’t want to hear about drafting a QB in the second round either. This team needs to build on what we have going right now, we need new bodies starting day one and I want to see the first and second round picks helping this team do what it did yesterday: Run the ball, play defense and make big plays throwing down the field.

I don’t care if the Broncos go up there to New England and get blown out. Doesn’t really matter. They’ve done enough. This season has already been validated, the quarterback position has also been validated for 2012. How could we expect this after 4 and 12, 1 and 4?

I give the Broncos a 20 percent chance next week. That’s a lot more than most would give I’m sure. The Patriots came into Denver jacked, they played that game like a playoff game and without those three brain fart turnovers the Broncos may have had a lead a the half.

If it’s tied or we’re leading at halftime, we have a shot. I don’t trust our defense against the Patriots offense. I don’t trust the Patriots defense against the Broncos offense either.
