The Brandon Marshall Trade: It’s Coming

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

A comment was recently left by someone trying to besmirch my good name–and failing–but they asked “What if Brandon Marshall stays with the Broncos this year?”

“Will I eat my words?”

And my answer is: No, I will not eat my words.

ESPN League Source

League source says: " Brandon Marshall surely won't be traded."

In light of all the BS Marshall’s pulled on and off the field, in light of the fact that McDaniels is a man of principle building a team of winners, the fact that our number 1 wide receiver was benched on the eve of a “playoff” game, the fact that Marshall is one step away from lengthy suspension, the fact that Marshall is a locker room cancer and a me-first prima donna loser…

Bringing Marshall back this year would be stupid.

I am confident McDaniels and Co. will not make this mistake. If they did, I would not relent on voicing my great displeasure with that porous decision.

When I read someone, and I do get around the blogosphere, when I read someone’s mock draft or their opinions on all things Broncos and they either a) assume Marshall will be back with the team or b) are hoping he’ll be back with the team… You know what I do?

I stop reading.

Because this person obviously doesn’t know this coach. This person probably doesn’t know this team.

And I state this, for you people’s own good. All them who got an ear, listen to what PP Dublinski is saying and has been saying all along:

When it comes to Marshall, you gotta get what you can.

1st round pick? Great. Two seconds? Sounds good, even if one is next year. A second rounder and a good player? A great player and a third rounder? A good player in a position of need?

Sayonara Marshall.

This ain’t the post-Elway ass end of the Shanahan era starring Daryl Gardener, Maurice Clarett, Travis Henry, Brandon Marshall and others. You can even add Huckdort in there–with that attitude and look? Should have known from the interview at the combine Hucky didn’t look right. Some of you people are living in the past. Living in the past where pathetic desperation gave way to questionable character and spoiled me first prima donna losers.

You know what I would trot out if the Broncos kept Marshall this year? I’d trot out the Brandon Marshall Meltdown Meter.

My diabolical nature, my supreme tact envisioned and produced the Huckdort Counter (which I have just updated). My word was sound and the Huck Counter was made whole.

Jay "Huckdort" Cutler

Jay "Huckdort" Cutler

Admit it, damn it all, you people admit it: You people loved that Huckdort Counter. You could not get enough of it. Hell, I bet it was good for few thousand hits–and it was all me baby.

That Huckdort counter was–and is–a symbol of my greatness. My supreme tact on display for all to see.

I am reality and my supreme tact will not be bifurcated, and or condensed, and or dismissed.

I will trot out the Brandon Marshall Meltdown Meter, with every dropped pass, with every loss the meter will rise, until finally the meltdown will occur–and I will be there to throw it in the face of McDaniels and Broncos management every step of the way. Throw it in their face, for their insufficient tact, poor mental acuity and thoroughly lackluster vision of the future.

But I am confident that will not happen. I am confident McDaniels and management will do the right thing and ship his ass to some team for a pittance if need be. He’s gone.

Hell, I think I’m going to trot out the Brandon Marshall Meltdown Meter at the beginning of this season regardless. It will only be a matter of time before he acts up with his new team.

Brandon Marshall: “probably escalated the situation”

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Remember I said Marshall was a bad actor on a New Years night a couple years ago?

“This is when I got angry a little bit and my first words were, ‘Goddamn man, I offered you guys drinks tonight to party with us.’ There was a lot of cursing and a lot of words being exchanged,” Marshall said.

Marshall said Clark lifted up his shirt as if to simulate he had a gun.

“I said, ‘Man, you got no f—— gun,’ ” Marshall said. “I don’t know if it was a gun or not. I assumed he didn’t have a gun because he was holding up his shirt and I didn’t see one.

“I kind of got angry at the time and probably escalated the situation, but I got angry because it was New Year’s and we were trying to have fun.”

“Did you make gestures to these people?” Twining asked.

“I am sure I did,” Marshall said.

Marshall then admitted he tried to jump over the snowbank to get at Clark and his friends, but he slipped on ice, and he said Harris punched him in the jaw.

He said at that moment, Clark and Harris ran away and he got a bad feeling.

“The first thing I thought of is maybe they are running to go get a gun,” Marshall said.

Pissed me off when I heard he was an instigator then (and you heard all these fans saying it wasn’t him, only his cousin), and it does now. Not blaming, but that nonsense sure didn’t help any.

I heard a rumor…

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

That Brandon Marshall didn’t return Numbnut’s phonecall.

Woody Paige

Numby

That’s why Numby changed his tune from saying pay Marshall 50 million to the latest “he’s not worth it.”

Well thank you Captain Obvious.

Can you believe this guy? He ain’t even serious. People are catching on:

Rotoworld: We generally take columnists’ opinions with a grain of salt (especially Woody Paige), but it’s true that McDaniels has yet to endorse Marshall’s return.

Especially Numby, since he’s perennially wrong.

Better late than never, I guess.

To all those who believe Marshall will still be a Bronco this year, send me an email: I got some Sham-Wow’s and Slap-Chops I want to sell you. Oh, and if you email quick I’ll also throw in the “Graty” for an extra five dollahs.

slap chop graty

Seriously, who would you rather sign? Brandon Marshall or Terrell Owens? Owens is the same type of receiver with the same antics and headaches, but Owens is without the risk of suspension and he would cost much less.

We don’t want neither, but just sayin’

Truths Amidst the Chaos

Friday, February 12th, 2010

brandon marshallYou people think I’m here just to hammer down and beat back the lies and distortions, eh? There is some good Broncos information being pushed out there, too bad you need a microscope to find it among all the garbage being shoveled. First up, words of wisdom from Adam Schefter:

I expect the Patriots are going to make some type of move for a receiver this off-season. Brandon Marshall is an interesting case. I don’t see that being the guy, I just don’t see Bill Belichick doing it. I don’t see Bill and the Patriots – I just don’t see it. The Broncos are in a situation where he’s the best player on their team. There’s a reason they’re going to trade him. Do you think you trade the best player on your team at the age of 25, 26?

Good point, followed by an even better one:

Q: So why would Josh McDaniels hang onto him?

A: Brandon Marshall’s getting traded. I don’t care what he says.

Any sea cucumber should see why Marshall isn’t back with the team next year. We’ve had enough of his unprofessionalism and this coach isn’t gonna take his crap. Some of you people are living in the past, living in the Shanahan era where desperation rules the day. Desperation in the form of Dale Carter, Daryl Gardener, Travis Henry, Todd Sauerbrun and Maurice Clarett. Desperation that would sign Marshall to a hefty one year contract so we can bench him on the eve of a playoff game — that desperation is no longer a part of the Broncos.

I told you people back in February of last year, I told you people this McDaniels is going to put his foot down on the spoiled Shanahan era Broncos. He will rule with an iron fist, and if you ain’t on board or if you’re gonna try and cause a bunch of nonsense then we’re shipping your ass out.

“Fair market value,” — forget about this. Damaged goods. We’re going to get something good for Marshall, but we ain’t getting what a lot of people are floating out there. I would be shocked if we did. I see us getting one first rounder or maybe a second and a third, or maybe even straight up for a player and a mid-round pick. All this happy talk from Marshall and the Broncos is posturing. Unfortunately, potential suitors aren’t that stupid. We will take what we can get, we’re not going to sit there like some ill-informed eBay seller asking the absolute maximum for an item that’s already been opened and has a history of failures and strange behavior.

Kudos to Mike Klis

But at the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl events the past week or so, I talked to several writers who covered Nolan at various points in his career. They all described him as a good man, but a micromanaging control freak. McDaniels is also a good man who also appears to be a micromanaging control freak. The difference is, McDaniels, as the head coach, is the only guy who has the right.

So it wasn’t going to work. Nolan is now the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator. Miami is his seventh team since he became a defensive coordinator for the first time in 1993. In other words, McDaniels isn’t the first guy who didn’t want to work with Nolan anymore. I don’t mean to criticize Nolan, who is an outstanding person, and a good coach. But to put 100 percent blame for his latest breakup on McDaniels is ridiculous.

Klis picked the Broncos to go 9 and 7 this year. I give credit where credit is due. This article from Klis — which had some good information — was followed up with negative comments from about two hundred sea cucumbers over there at the Post.

woody paige jon stewart

"That's entertainment."

I’m laughing my balls off at the fact these people are trying to hammer the wrong guy. Numbnut’s sea of 200 cucumbers over there are willing to believe the words of an old fool who builds his house on sand time and time again. They’re going out on a limb for a guy who’s not even serious. Reminds me of the people that believe Jon Stewart peddles real news information.

This one in particular, was a shot across the bow of the Numby faithful:

As for that second-ranked offense McDaniels inherited, don’t forget it finished 16th in scoring. Football games, J Will, are not won between the 20s.

Oh that’s a shill for McDaniels right there, nothing more. That Klis is in McDaniels pocket, that’s gotta be it…

I will opine that Marshall will be traded. McDaniels’ decision to dismiss Marshall from the season’s final game, and Marshall’s insistence on receiving the type of contract the Broncos don’t feel comfortable providing him make his departure certain.

I’m beginning to think this Klis has more than half a brain.

Denver Broncos up for sale rumor

This is another idiotic one, did you hear the Broncos may be for sale? Peddled by some goober on a slow news day, probably thought this one up while he was sitting on the toilet counting the bathroom tiles after his significant other experimented with a “knockwurst casserole.”

These people just don’t seem to know this coach or this owner. If you knew this coach, you wouldn’t think for .001 second that we’re bringing back Marshall.

If you know our owner, you know our owner wants to win. It is a great thing having an owner who wants to win badly. Some people think we’re going to be tightwads in the offseason. I don’t think so myself. I believe we will at least bring in one big name on our defensive line and two or three decent names on offensive line and wide receiver.

Our team has an owner who wants to win. He’s not stupid, we’re not going to spend out the ass, but I see us being a strong player in all things free agency and the draft this year. We’re gonna have ammo to trade, whether straight up for a player or trading picks. Everyone seems to think we will use a pick from the Marshall trade in this draft, but we could use an extra pick to sign a restricted free agent that we like.

Pat Bowlen hired McDaniels to win a Super Bowl. It would be ridiculous for Bowlen to bail at this moment. Bowlen won with Reeves (no Lombardi, but hell if we didn’t have the chances), he won with Shanahan and he will win with McDaniels. McDaniels is a winner, he has the mark of a winner and he will rule with an iron fist. If you don’t like him, you better learn to love him cause he’s gonna be around for a long time.

Jay "Huckdort" Cutler

Jay "Huckdort" Cutler

Amidst all the downers, amidst all the crying and whining, this team was 4th and 10, 3rd and 25 away from being 10 and 6 last year. Our problems are evident and will be addressed, we are on the up and up and it was nothing short of a disgrace to see that Denver Post poll that says the Redskins are on a much better track. Then again, it’s Numbnuts and his sea of 200 at work over there, living in the poor character past, lamenting a gooned out, pick throwing Huckdort who would have “saved the franchise.”

Broncos want McNabb – Lies and Distortions

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

I’m sick and tired of a bunch of tabloid nonsense, boneheaded theories and porous information.

I heard Timmy Tebow’s gonna be the Broncos new quarterback.

I heard we’re bringing back Brandon Marshall for a one-year, ten million dollar deal.

Then we’ll sign LT from the Chargers cause he’s certainly at a point in his career where he’ll hit the hole with gusto.

I heard Donovan McNabb is gonna be the Broncos new quarterback. Then we’re still gonna draft Timmy Tebow so he can make two trick plays in the wildcat for us.

Dumervil’s on his way to Miami since Nolan’s better than McDaniels.

We’re gonna sign Terrell Owens to play opposite Marshall, then McNabb is gonna be throwing to Marshall and Owens in 2010.

Don’t believe all this nonsense. You’ve got snake oil salesmen and garden variety morons like that John Clayton over at ESPN peddling a bunch of crap in a slow news period to try and get you to sign up to the website. That ESPN rumor central is tabloid. Just like that Numby up at the Denver Post. His nonsense ain’t even serious. The Broncos inquired three times about McNabb eh? Prove it. I bet they can’t.

ESPN League Source

League source says: " Broncos to trade a 1st rounder for Donovan McNabb."

I bet more than half the time over at that rumor central, I bet more than half the time the “league source” is some Jimmy DaRula selling hot dogs outside the stadium who thought he heard something on his illegal scanner. The Eagles front office pizza delivery man picked up something for a second on his CB radio. What a bunch of garbage. Just because a ESPN reporter floats it from “league sources,” doesn’t mean it’s gospel. Especially at this time of year. A lot of these so-called rumors are nonsense at this point,  nothing really matters until March 5th, and even then they’ll find a way to float something stupid. Especially since they besmirch McDaniels at every turn, even before he coached a single game. I heard that McDaniels don’t know how to run a team.

McNabb playing for Denver? Not happening. Marshall returning? Not happening.

Bring back Brandon Marshall for a year?

Oh yeah, that’s genius right?

I bet we can’t pay him ten million for his talent quick enough — just so we can bench him before another playoff game.

Brandon Marshall: Enough Already, He’s Gone

Friday, February 5th, 2010

My first prediction for 2010 was the Broncos getting rid of Brandon Marshall — I thought it was a very, very easy one.

Some of these people out there obviously don’t think so.

“Marshall will be back…”  “We’ll be stupid to let his talent go…”  “You can’t be serious about getting draft picks for his proven talent…”

Enough, he’s gone.

Gonna go through it one last time.

First, there is reason to wonder if Marshall is even worth being the highest paid wide receiver in the game or close to it. Troubles aside, attitude aside. He’s a great possession receiver, he gets good yards after the catch, he’s a big target, but he ain’t some super dynamic speedy game-changer like Larry Fitzgerald.

Marshall’s second year I said to myself, I said this kid will be a Bronco for only a few years, hopefully we’ll make a run and utilize his talent while he’s here, because when his contract comes up, this is the type of kid that will want the moon.

That was even before most of the nonsense:

—————————————————————————————————————

June 17, 2006: Conflicting police reports from Marshall and Rasheedah Watley were filed with the Orange County, Fla., Sheriff’s Department. Marshall told police that Watley became violent after seeing him earlier that evening as the object of another woman’s affection. Marshall described Watley to police as an old family friend and told police that Watley punched him and scratched his chest after an argument inside the couple’s Orlando apartment spiraled out of control. Watley, who filed a police report by phone from Atlanta three days after the incident, told Florida police that Marshall was the aggressor, and that he slapped her in the face, grabbed her by the arms and pushed her to the ground, and that Marshall’s sister, London, who was also present during the fight, cut Watley above her eye by throwing a cell phone or remote control at her face. No charges were ever filed.

Dec. 31, 2006: Marshall and several Broncos teammates were present at “The Shelter,” a nightclub in Denver’s LoDo section, as part of a birthday celebration for Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin. Former Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker later told HBO’s “Real Sports” that an argument broke out at the club when Marshall and his cousin sprayed champagne on another club patron and his friend. The men, who argued with Marshall and his cousin, were then asked to leave the club, Walker told HBO. Walker admitted he didn’t see the encounter. According to media reports, around closing time, Marshall and his cousin were seen on the sidewalk outside the club arguing with the patrons who had been ejected from the club earlier that night. Walker told HBO that he believes the argument contributed to a drive-by shooting a short time later that killed Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams.

Jan. 24, 2007: Police responded to a parking lot outside an Orlando bowling alley where Marshall and his father had a heated argument. According to a police report of the incident, Frederick Marshall said his son took out a handgun and fired one shot at him after the two men argued. Frederick Marshall, who refused to sign a sworn statement or press charges, said his son left the area after firing the handgun. Several witnesses said they never heard gunshots, according to the police report.  Frederick Marshall also threatened to “ruin [Brandon's] professional football career,” according to the police report. Brandon Marshall also declined to press charges.

March 18, 2007: Atlanta police responded to a domestic dispute call at the Westin Peachtree hotel. Watley told officers that after meeting Marshall at the hotel that night, he became enraged after he went through her cell phone call list and noticed she’d been speaking with an ex-boyfriend. Watley told police Marshall hit her repeatedly with a closed fist. While she refused medical attention, police noticed a large, dark-colored bruise on Watley’s chin. Police reported seeing Marshall in the lobby of a neighboring hotel but, according to the report, Marshall left and was not arrested. Police advised Watley to take out a warrant for Marshall’s arrest, but Watley never did. No charges were ever filed.

March 21, 2007: Watley filed a report with police in Boca Raton, Fla. Watley and Marshall, who were staying in south Florida with Marshall’s uncle, told police that an argument started that night at a local restaurant after Marshall refused to ask Watley to marry him. According to a police report, while Watley was walking home, Marshall grabbed a large pipe from a construction site and hit the ground with it in frustration. Nobody was hurt. Police characterized the incident as a verbal domestic dispute. No charges were filed.

March 26, 2007: Police in Douglas County, Colo., arrested Marshall for false imprisonment and domestic violence. Watley told “Outside the Lines” she was assaulted by Marshall a day earlier at Marshall’s suburban Denver home — she never reported that incident to police — and that she was attempting to fly back to Atlanta to get away from Marshall. Watley told police she and Marshall argued at the Denver airport and that she later agreed to return to Marshall’s home. Watley told police when she attempted to leave Marshall’s home a second time, Marshall followed her taxi and, at one point, blocked its path with his Dodge Charger, leapt from his car and punched the taxi cab’s windows. When contacted by “Outside the Lines,” the cab driver confirmed Watley’s version of events. Marshall denied punching the taxi cab’s windows and later told police he was only trying to retrieve his cell phone, which he said Watley had taken from him.

May 25, 2007: Charges against Marshall relating to his arrest in Douglas County, Colo., were dismissed after he successfully completed anger management classes.

June 8, 2007: Police responded to Marshall and Watley’s Atlanta condo at 5 a.m. and found Watley with a noticeable cut on her right thigh. Watley initially told officers that she accidentally cut herself with a kitchen knife. Watley told the first officer to arrive that while she had argued with Marshall earlier that evening, no physical abuse occurred. Marshall was not present. Roughly an hour later, at 6:07 a.m., police were dispatched to the condo a second time. On this second visit Watley told police that Marshall did indeed cut her thigh with a kitchen knife during a fight earlier that evening and that he later returned to the condo and continued to assault Watley by punching her in the forehead. Watley’s friend, Kristeena Spivey, told police that while she was attempting to drive Watley from the condo complex, she noticed Marshall attempting to leave the scene. Spivey, who called 911 to make officers aware of Marshall’s whereabouts, said when she attempted to block Marshall’s exit from the parking lot with her vehicle, Marshall rammed her car with his Cadillac Escalade and then left his SUV and threw a large rock at the passenger side of Spivey’s car. Marshall fled the scene before police arrived, according to Spivey and Watley. Watley was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. No charges were ever filed.

June 30, 2007: Atlanta police responded to a fight-in-progress call at Marshall and Watley’s condo. Watley told police that a fight broke out after Marshall missed a flight and blamed Watley. Watley told police Marshall struck her with a closed fist and choked her. Watley had a bruise on her left eye and noticeable scratches on her body, according to a police report of the incident. Officers made Watley aware of the procedures to obtain a restraining order. No charges were filed.

Oct. 22, 2007: Hours after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers, Marshall was cited at 2 a.m. by Denver police for driving under the influence after he was seen driving erratically. His blood-alcohol level was 0.116 (the legal limit for DUI in Colorado is 0.08).

Jan. 18, 2008: Watley obtained a temporary protective order against Marshall in Fulton County (Ga.) Superior Court. At the time, Marshall was forbidden to come within 200 yards of Watley. Watley, through her attorneys, eventually agreed to lift the court order.

Feb. 18, 2008: Watley told “Outside the Lines” that as part of a Valentine’s Day present, and in an attempt to repair their relationship, Marshall surprised her with a last-minute trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico. While on that trip, Watley said, Marshall argued with her about an ex-boyfriend. Watley said Marshall assaulted her at San Juan’s Condado Plaza Hotel, hitting her in the mouth, which caused her to bleed, and choking her on the bed. A report was filed by police saying officers were called to the hotel to help hotel security escort guests from the property. The report does not mention Watley, Marshall or any details of the incident.

March 4, 2008: Police responded around 9 p.m. to a fight call at Marshall and Watley’s Atlanta condo and found Marshall bleeding from his hand. Marshall initially told police that during an argument with Watley, one of Watley’s sisters cut him on his hand with a knife. When asked by police who had the knife, Marshall then told officers there was no knife, and that he’d been cut on glass during a fight with Watley. Watley told police that Marshall became upset after finding text messages from an ex-boyfriend on Watley’s phone. Watley had several cuts on her lips, according to a police report, and told officers that Marshall had grabbed her by the head and slapped her. While police were interviewing Watley, Marshall fled, according to a report of the incident.

March 5, 2008: Police returned to Marshall and Watley’s condo around 1 a.m. Watley and her sister both told police that after the fight earlier that same evening, Marshall returned to the condo, took Watley’s purse and threw her personal belongings, including clothing, off of the 20th floor balcony. Police told Watley to leave the residence, but she declined and explained that she feared Marshall would return again once officers left and damage more of her property.

March 5, 2008: Watley obtained her second temporary protective order against Marshall in Fulton County Superior Court. Marshall was once again forbidden by the court order to come within 200 yards of Watley.

May 5, 2008: Atlanta police were called once again to the condo Watley shared for more than a year with Marshall. According to a police report, Watley and Marshall’s mother argued about Watley’s attempt to remove items from the condo. No charges were filed.

Aug. 5, 2008: The NFL released a statement announcing that Marshall would be suspended without pay for the Broncos’ first three regular-season games of 2008 for violating the NFL personal conduct policy. The statement noted that “if Marshall fully complies with required counseling and other conditions of the suspension, Commissioner Goodell will consider reducing the suspension to two games.”

Aug. 28, 2008: Less than a month after the NFL released a statement announcing Marshall’s suspension, the league released another statement saying Marshall’s suspension had been reduced upon appeal to one game without pay plus an additional fine of one game check. An NFL spokesman told ESPN “a potential reduction in [Marshall's] initial three-game suspension was always contemplated if he complied with required counseling and other conditions of the suspension.” The spokesman would not elaborate on the precise conditions Marshall met to have his suspension reduced.

Sept. 10, 2008: Marshall was charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple battery as a result of the incident the previous March (his formal bond arraignment was Nov. 3, 2008). Simple battery, according to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office, is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

Sept. 12, 2008: Nearly a year after being cited for DUI in Denver, Marshall pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of driving while ability-impaired. He was sentenced to one year of probation.

March 1, 2009: Marshall and his fiancée, Nogami-Campbell, were seen by an off-duty Atlanta police officer arguing outside the same Atlanta condo Marshall once shared with Watley. According to a police report of the incident, the off-duty officer saw Marshall and Nogami-Campbell kicking and punching one another on the sidewalk outside the condo building. The off-duty officer said she saw Marshall grab Nogami-Campbell by the shirt and pin her up against the wall. Nogami-Campbell continued to kick and hit Marshall, the officer said. Both Marshall and Nogami-Campbell were arrested and taken to the Atlanta City Jail. They were released later that same day and charges were dismissed. In a statement to ESPN, the NFL said the incident remains “under review.” — ESPN

————————————————————————————————————————————–

Add to this the fact that Marshall started off the season stupid, and ended stupid.

I suppose we ought to run right out and pay 50 million plus to this unprofessional locker room poison who is one step away from being suspended six games. You know what that Numbnuts at the Denver Post said? He stole my line about Cutler — million dollar talent but a ten cent head. Is that right Numby? Wasn’t this the guy you said we should pay 50 million plus for a few months ago?

Ain’t no way, no how.

Josh McDaniels is an authoritarian. I told you people last February, I told you that he has the mark of a winner and he will rule with an iron fist. He will clean house and put his foot down on the me-first poor character Shanahan era players who were acquired out of blind desperation. That Scheffler couldn’t wait til the Broncos season was over, eh? Don’t let the door hit you in the ass. McDaniels ain’t gonna put up with that nonsense, or with Marshall’s nonsense. Marshall’s season started stupid, and it ended stupid. I knew he would be trouble when the team hit any sort of adversity (losing games) just like I’m sure he will do the same with this next team.

We can and will take the money we could have paid Brandon Marshall and we can sign two professionals with that money.

If we get a first rounder for Marshall — I ‘m not so sure we even want two first rounders.

In a year where there will be a surplus of quality restricted free agents, the Broncos may end up being one of the few teams with an extra first rounder as ammunition.

A first round pick from Marshall for Logan Mankins? Or Vincent Jackson? Hello. Yes, in a heartbeat.

I happen to think a first round draft pick for Marshall would be great in any scenario, whether we use it to acquire a restricted free agent or to simply draft.

One of the best case scenarios in my opinion is getting something for Marshall then using that something to bring in Logan Mankins. And then signing a wide receiver on the level of a Gaffney. An all pro guard and a quality player — plus the fact they will be professionals — for the same amount of money it would have taken to sign Marshall.

We can’t let this happen? We can’t get a deal like this done fast enough.
